USTA Florida will be hosting a free Tenis para Todos family tennis festival at Tamiami Park in Miami on July 30, 2016 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The event is a celebration of Hispanic heritage and is part of the USTA’s Tenis para Todos initiative.
Families will enjoy a wealth of activities on and off the court, such as music, food, face painting, photo booth and more for all ages and levels of play. The first 200 registered participants who attend the event will receive a free t-shirt at check in.
This fun family event will offer two special tennis play opportunities for participants. Youth players will be able to register for Junior Team Tennis on site, with a special gift for the first 20 participants to register. Additionally, families will have the opportunity to watch an exhibition of superheroes, leading up to a special opportunity to enjoy XGLOsive (glow in the dark) tennis – a fun, high-energy way to play tennis with black lights and neon colors. XGLOsive features games for all ages and levels of play. XGLOsive is limited to 100 participants, so register early.
“We hope lots of families come out for this free Tennis Festival, which is a wonderful way to introduce kids — and their parents — to the lifetime sport of tennis,” says USTA Florida Tennis Program Coordinator Cathy Nordlund. “We will have fun activities for all ages and abilities and information about local play opportunities.”
‘Tenis para Todos’ is the Hispanic Outreach initiative designed to increase the participation of the Hispanic community in tennis in Central and South Florida. Launched in 2013, the effort has more than 10 participating facility partners around the state.
